Gaining and Using Boosts

Officials can increase their chances of getting assigned by adding boosts to their offer. Each official starts with 10 boosts when they signup. Officials use boosts when they are added to an offer. If an official cancels their offer, they get their boosts back. If an official loses a bid, they get their boosts back plus gain a share of the winning official’s boosts.

Example 1:

Steve will win this bid. Since the number of boosts needed to guarantee a win is only 1, Steve will get 3 boosts back. Mike will gain Steve’s remaining 1 boost.

Example 2:

Steve will win this bid. Since the number of boosts needed to guarantee a win is only 2, Steve will get 2 boosts back. Mike and Chris will both get their 1 boost back. Since Mike and Chris both had the same number of boosts, they will share Steve’s remaining 2 boosts.

Example 3:

Steve will win this bid. Since the number of boosts needed to guarantee a win is only 3, Steve will get 1 boost back. Chris will get 2 boosts back. Since Chris had more boosts than Mike, he will get a larger share of Steve’s remaining 3 boosts.
